Waterproofing and Interior Drain Installation in Montreal, QC
Challenge
Mr. Bernard noticed signs of water infiltration and a musty odor in his basement. He wanted to be able to use this space without these inconveniences and enjoy optimal comfort.
Resolution
Our specialists at Sous-Sol Confort conducted a free evaluation and recommended installing an interior drain system, along with a SumpPlus sump pump system, to remove infiltrated water and direct it outside the house. This solution ensures a dry and comfortable basement.
To install the drainage system, we proceeded as follows:
- Interior Drain Installation:
- A trench was dug around the interior perimeter of the basement, at the junction between the walls and the floor.
- An interior drain was installed on a bed of gravel, and then the floor was covered with concrete to seal everything.
- Wall Waterproofing:
- The foundation walls were covered with a Pro-10 mil vapor barrier, providing effective moisture protection.
- SumpPlus Sump Pump System Installation:
- A perforated receptacle was installed two feet deep into the ground.
- A support was added to elevate the powerful pump.
- A battery-powered alarm was set up to automatically signal if the water level exceeded the designated threshold.
- A hermetically sealed lid with a floor drain was installed to ensure waterproofing.
- Dehumidification:
- An AloAir HD55 dehumidifier was installed to maintain an optimal humidity level in the basement.
- Water Evacuation:
- The collected water is discharged outside the house through a successfully installed SafeGuard discharge line.
This comprehensive intervention allowed Mr. Bernard to regain a dry, healthy, and functional basement by eliminating water infiltration and humidity problems.
