Water Infiltration Problem in the Crawl Space in Montreal, QC
Challenge
Following our visit to Mr. Alexandros' home, it became clear that the crawl space had a humidity problem and unpleasant odors, which affected air quality and the comfort of this space.
Resolution
After contacting Sous-Sol Confort to explore the available options, Mr. Alexandros chose our Double Protection sump pump system, recommended by our specialists.
Here are the steps of the intervention:
- Replacement of the main pump:
- We installed a Zoeller ⅓ HP cast iron sump pump, capable of evacuating up to 8,500 liters of water per hour, even with a discharge height of 8 feet.
- Addition of a battery backup pump:
- An Aquanot Spin 508 backup sump pump was added to provide additional protection. This pump can evacuate more than 43,000 liters of water on a single battery charge, ensuring system operation even during a power outage.
- Installation of the complete system:
- A basin was integrated into the ground to house the pumps.
- A battery-powered alarm was installed. It automatically triggers when the water level exceeds the threshold at which the main pump should activate.
- A hermetically sealed lid was added to prevent moisture buildup and reduce noise disturbances.
- Water evacuation:
- The collected water is discharged outside the house through an independent SafeGard discharge line, successfully installed to prevent any water backflow.
Thanks to this Double Protection system, Mr. Alexandros now enjoys a fully protected crawl space, even in case of a power outage. The risks of water infiltration or flooding have been completely eliminated, allowing him to fully enjoy his space with peace of mind.
