Solution Against Basement Water Infiltration with Interior Drain System in Mascouche, QC
Challenge
Our client, Mr. Lemire, noticed signs of water infiltration and a musty odor in his basement. He wants to be able to use this space without these inconveniences and enjoy optimal comfort.
Resolution
Our specialists at Sous-Sol Confort conducted a free assessment and recommended the installation of a FlowDrain interior drain system, as well as a SumPlus sump pump system, to evacuate infiltrated water and drain it outside the house, ensuring a dry and comfortable basement.
To begin the drainage system installation, a trench is dug around the internal perimeter of the basement, at the joint between the wall and the floor. The FlowDrain interior drains are then installed on a bed of gravel. Finally, the floor is covered with concrete.
Once the drains are installed to collect infiltrated water and direct it to the SumPlus sump pump system, a perforated receptacle is placed two feet deep in the ground. A support is added to elevate the pump, and a battery-powered alarm is installed, which sounds automatically when the water exceeds the level at which the pump should normally start. A hermetic cover with a floor drain is also installed to ensure optimal protection.
The sump pump system then evacuates the water outside the house through an independent SafeGard discharge line, successfully put in place.
