Solution Against Basement Water Infiltration with Interior Drain System in Laval, QC
Challenge
Our client, Mr. Maki, noticed signs of water infiltration and a musty odor in his basement. He wants to be able to use this space without these inconveniences and enjoy optimal comfort.
Resolution
Our specialists at Sous-Sol Confort conducted a free assessment and recommended installing a FlowDrain interior drain system, as well as a SumPlus sump pump system. This solution effectively evacuates infiltrated water and drains it outside the house, thus ensuring a dry and comfortable basement.
The drainage system installation begins with digging a trench around the internal perimeter of the basement, at the junction between the wall and the floor. The FlowDrain interior drains are then placed on a bed of gravel, before the floor is covered with concrete to ensure a clean and durable finish.
Once the drains are in place to collect infiltrated water and direct it to the SumPlus sump pump system, a perforated receptacle is installed at a depth of two feet in the ground. A support is added to elevate the pump, and a battery-powered alarm is integrated: it triggers automatically if the water level exceeds the pump's activation threshold. For optimal protection, a hermetic cover with a floor drain is also installed.
Finally, the sump pump system evacuates the water outside the house via an independent SafeGard discharge line, successfully put in place.
