Crawl Space Encapsulation and Stabilization in Lachute, QC
Challenge
Our client, Mr. Gosselin, residing in Lachute, is facing humidity problems—a sometimes insidious and hard-to-detect issue that could potentially affect the structure of the house and lead to mold formation in various places. Unpleasant odors, discomfort in the house, and very cold floors prompted the owners to undertake research to definitively solve these problems. However, in this specific case, after only a year of residence in this location, the owners noticed several signs of humidity inside the house. Additionally, they are experiencing difficulties with a bedroom door that does not close completely. Therefore, it is imperative to find a solution to stabilize the floor joists in the crawl space.
Resolution
Aware of the importance of crawl space encapsulation, the homeowner decided to seek the expertise of Sous-Sol Confort to address these issues. After meeting with the specialist, the owner decided to proceed with the necessary work. A few days later, our team went to the Lachute residence to carry out the required installations. After a thorough inspection, our specialist proposed replacing the wooden beam with a metal beam and adding support posts. We recommended the installation of 9 SuperJack support posts to stabilize the floor joists in the long term and reinforce the crawl space floor using galvanized and adjustable posts. Our teams also installed thermal insulation panels on the walls to minimize heat loss and achieve energy savings. Finally, we applied Delta MS and Pro 20 mil Vapor Barrier membranes. Additionally, an Aprilaire dehumidifier was installed.
Now, the resident Mr. Gosselin of this house no longer faces problems related to unpleasant odors and cold floors. If you are experiencing similar problems, do not hesitate to contact us for a free inspection of your crawl space.
