To begin the drainage system installation, a trench is dug around the internal perimeter of the basement, at the joint between the wall and the floor, in order to install the FlowDrain drains on a gravel bed. Then, the floor is covered with concrete. Once the drains are installed, which collect the infiltrated water and direct it to the SumPlus sump pump system, a perforated receptacle is installed two feet deep in the ground. A support is also added to hold the powerful pump, along with a battery-powered alarm that sounds automatically when the water level exceeds what the pump should normally start at. Finally, a tight-fitting cover with a floor drain is put in place. The sump pump system then discharges the water outside the house through a successfully installed independent SafeGard discharge line.
