Our client, Mrs. Isabelle, noticed issues of humidity and infiltration in her crawlspace, along with a weakening of the floor joists in her house. She wants to solve the mold problem, improve energy efficiency, and stabilize the floor joists in her crawlspace.
The solution:
Our experts at Sous-Sol Confort conducted a free assessment and recommended a comprehensive solution to meet our client's needs. We propose installing a FlowDrain drainage system and a SumPlus sump pump system to eliminate infiltrated water and direct it away from the house, ensuring a dry and comfortable crawlspace.
The first step involves creating a trench along the internal perimeter of the basement, at the joint between the wall and the floor, to install FlowDrain drains on a gravel bed. Next, we recommend installing 9 SuperJack posts to stabilize the joists in the long term. Before pouring a new 4-inch thick concrete slab with a strength of 25MPA, we install the Delta MS drainage mat. To evacuate infiltrated water, we will install a SumPlus sump pump system. This system includes a perforated receptacle installed two feet deep in the ground, along with a powerful pump and a hermetic lid with a floor drain. An integrated alarm sounds when the water level exceeds the pump triggering threshold. The water is then discharged from the house through an independent SafeGard discharge line.
